Memorial Day Ceremony Set for Monday, May 29th

The American Legion Post 153 has a nice ceremony planned for Union County for this year’s Memorial Day. On Monday, May 29th, everyone is invited to attend the ceremony which will be taking place at the Masonic Lodge in downtown Lake Butler, at 325 W Main Street.

The ceremony will begin at 9:00am with patriotic music by bagpipes, played by Todd Hanlon. Guests that arrive early to enjoy the music will be treated to coffee and doughnuts. At 9:28am, the UCHS Honor Guard will raise the American Flag at the Veterans Memorial, and then lower it to Half-Mast. Harold Green, American Legion Post 153 Commander will then commence with the welcome, followed with invocation by Post 153 Chaplain, Gene Gordon. The program will continue on with the opening remarks, pledge and more. (see program below)

The guest speaker this year will be Dan Sikes, a Vietnam Veteran and past member fo the FLARNG at Camp Blanding.
