Lake Butler Rotary Meeting Review, 2019 4th of July Update

At their weekly meeting on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, the Lake Butler Rotary Club finalized plans for the 4th of July Celebration taking place on Thursday, July 4th!

Lake Butler Rotary Club President, Brad Whitehead went over the 4th of July update. The fishing tournament is expecting 50 boats and had 10 that pre-registered. The cash prizes have all been donated and the registration of boats will assist the Club for next year. The parking of boat trailers begins at 3:00am and Shane Collins and Carlton Faulk have this process under control. The Rotary Interact Club is providing a few members to volunteer and check the boats and a bull horn will be used at first light to send out the pre-registered boats first, followed by groups of five or ten based upon their order of signing in.

The 4th of July Fun Run and 5K Run trophies are in! Word has it that even Mitchell Bishop will be making the 5k Run! The Mayor’s Art Contest is ready to go according to Lake Butler City Manager, Dale Walker. The music and DJ will be setup and ready by the start of the afternoon and continue on until about 6:00pm. The winning bidders for the Silent Auction will be announced prior to the fireworks display so that they can pay for the items and take them home. Cathryn Reagan has two groups to handle the intake of donated items and to judge the same.

There are over 30 vendors that have signed up to be part of this year’s 4th of July Celebration festival! Vendors will check in at the Information Booth that will be setup at the entrance of The Loop. Upon signing in, the vendors will be given their booth location and assistance, if needed, in finding their spot.

Shane Collin’s ‘Did You Know?” question this week involved the Continental Vote to adopt the Independence Resolution. He asked which was the only State to abstain? The correct answer was New York, given by Nancy Griffis. Tony Sweat provided Nancy with a “Get out of Jail” Card.
