NOTICE OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE 20-05
The Board of County Commissioners of Union County, Florida proposes to adopt an ordinance re-imposing a six-cent local option gas tax upon every gallon of motor fuel and special fuel (diesel fuel) sold in Union County, Florida.
The first of two public hearings on the proposed ordinance will be held during the regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners to be held on July 20, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, in the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room, Union County Courthouse, located at 55 West Main Street, Lake Butler, Florida. The Board of County Commissioners will hold the public hearing to conduct a first reading of the ordinance. The title of said ordinance reads, as follows:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 84-1, ORDINANCE NO. 89-06, ORDINANCE NO. 2010-03, ORDINANCE NO. 2014-04, AND ORDINANCE NO. 2019-01 RE-IMPOSING A SIX (6) CENT LOCAL OPTION GAS TAX UPON EVERY GALLON OF MOTOR FUEL AND SPECIAL FUEL (DIESEL FUEL) SOLD IN UNION COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND TAXED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 206, FLORIDA STATUTES; PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE PERIOD OF SUCH TAX; ESTABLISHING THE DISTRIBUTION FORMULA FOR DIVIDING THE PROCEEDS BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND ELIGIBLE MUNICIPALITIES; AND PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
The public hearing may be continued to one or more future dates. Any interested party shall be advised that the date, time and place of any continuation of the public hearing shall be announced during the public hearing and that no further notice concerning the matter will be published, unless said continuation exceeds six calendar weeks from the date of the above referenced public hearing.
At the aforementioned public hearing, all interested parties may appear to be heard with respect to the amendment.
Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public inspection, at the Office of the Board of County Commissioners, located at 15 Northeast First Street, Lake Butler, Florida, during regular business hours. All persons are advised that if they decide to appeal any decision made at the above referenced public hearing, they will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, they may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
