Ordinance No. 20-06. This Ordinance will go before the Union County Commission for adoption at their July 20, 2020 Meeting.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE 20-06

The Board of County Commissioners of Union County, Florida proposes to adopt an ordinance providing for the assessment of a 1 cent emergency fire rescue services and facilities surtax on qualified transactions within Union County, to become effective only upon approval by a majority referendum vote.

The first of two public hearings on the proposed ordinance will be held  during the regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners to be held on July 20, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, in the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room, Union County Courthouse, located at 55 West Main Street, Lake Butler, Florida. The Board of County Commissioners will hold the public hearing to conduct a first reading of the ordinance. The title of said ordinance reads, as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE UNION COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF A 1 CENT EMERGENCY FIRE RESCUE SERVICES AND FACILITIES SURTAX ON QUALIFIED TRANSACTIONS WITHIN UNION COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR THE ORDINANCE TO BECOME EFFECTIVE ONLY UPON APPROVAL OF THE MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS CASTING A BALLOT ON THE REFERENDUM TO ADOPT SAID ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

The public hearing may be continued to one or more future dates. Any interested party shall be advised that the date, time and place of any continuation of the public hearing shall be announced during the public hearing and that no further notice concerning the matter will be published, unless said continuation exceeds six calendar weeks from the date of the above referenced public hearing.

At the aforementioned public hearing, all interested parties may appear to be heard with respect to the amendment.

Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public inspection, at the Office of the Board of County Commissioners, located at 15 Northeast First Street, Lake Butler, Florida, during regular business hours. All persons are advised that if they decide to appeal any decision made at the above referenced public hearing, they will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, they may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
