After an enjoyable meal shared by 16 Lake Butler rotarians, along with our guest speakers, President Brian Reagan opened our meeting. Our prayer for the food was given by Jody Read, the Pledge was lead by Russ Wade, and Art Peterson lead the club in the Marine’s Hymn, in honor of the Corp’s birthday.
The trivia question this week was “On November 12th, this TV series debuts, and introduces the world to a small green alien who captivated the hearts of the world with his amusing antics. Who is he, and what is the name of the show?” Several Rotarians correctly guessed The Mandalorian and Grogu/Baby Yoda
Superintendent of Schools Mike Ripplinger spoke briefly about the Veterans Day program at the Union County high school auditorium at 9 AM, as well as about purchasing playoff tickets for this Friday nights game against the Trenton Tigers.
Secretary Tyler Kelley had our program today. He introduced our two speakers for today, Coach Andrew Thomas, head coach for the Union County Tigers football team, and Steve Berrey, assistant coach and tech guru.
Steve spoke to the club about the brand new Jumbotron located at Marvin Pritchett Field UCHS, brought to us by the generous donations of several donors and the Union County School Board. he also talked about the features that the Jumbotron has, of which he and the students are just scratching the surface on.It is important to point out that during the football games during the season, the people running the scoreboard aren’t adults, they are high schoolers who are learning how to use the equipment, and they are doing a fantastic job of doing it.
Steve then re-introduced Coach Andrew Thomas, who got up and spoke about UCHS’s undefeated regular season, and our seeding in the upcoming FHSAA State playoffs.
Upcoming Programs:” November 16-Dave Mecusker, November 23-NO MEETING, November 30th-Garrett Milton, December 7th-Art Peterson, December 14th-Alexandra Pritchett
