The December Lake Butler Family Movie night was held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the Lake Butler Fire Department Building, now the Union County Fire Station #1. The recent movie nights have gathered popularity, with the December event being no exception! With at least 50 people in attendance, the audience got to enjoy the movie Polar Express.
In addition to the movie, light refreshments were offered up including popcorn and chips as well as a generous donation of cupcakes brought in by The Station Bakery of High Springs, and the Lake Butler Community Page donating hot chocolate and grilled hot dogs!

Santa showed up as a surprise to the children and adults alike! Thanks to Renai Pitmon of Pitmon Photography who had Santa in town for a photo shoot, he agreed to swing by the fire station to say hello to the kids just before the movie began.
The City of Lake Butler began hosting the Family Movie Nights a couple years back. They are typically held once each month, except during the summer. The event is always free, they just ask that guests bring a chair or blanket for their comfort. Light refreshments are always provided such as popcorn and drinks with the occasionally extra treat that is donated to the event.
The next Family Movie Night is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2019 with the movie SmallFoot chosen to be shown! You can find information about the Family Movie Nights on the Lake Butler Community Page, and the January Family Movie Night Event.
