The accuracy of the 2020 Census is critical to our entire community, including our public schools. It ensures our schools get the federal funding they need to serve all students through such programs as Title 1, special education grants and the national school lunch program.
To ensure an accurate count, the Census Bureau is recruiting and hiring hundreds of census takers in Union County. Census workers will be paid $16.50 an hour and receive 58 cents for every mile driven on official business.
Anyone interested in becoming a census worker is welcome to attend a recruiting session coming up in February. Census Bureau staff will be on hand to provide information and help participants apply. The session will be held:
Saturday February 22th from 9:00am – 2:00pm at the Union County Public Library (250 SE 5th Ave., Lake Butler)
