President Shane Collins opened the Lake Butler Rotary Club’s Meeting following another excellent fried chicken and chicken casserole luncheon. The cherry cheesecake dessert topped off the meal. Brian Reagan asked the blessing, Garrett Milton led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Derick Thomas had us singing “Row, Row Your Boat”.
Tyler Kelley let the Rotarians slide as he had no fines and Brian Reagan asked the “Did You Know?” question – On April 6, 1970 Sam Sheppard died and became the basis for what TV series? David Beatty correctly provided “The Fugitive” as his answer.
Brian Reagan was the program chairperson and presented an overview of his White Crane Karate and Kabuto Dojo Training for adults and youth in Lake Butler, Florida. His 32 years’ experience with Karate and Kabuto coupled with the need for more local productive youth activities (noted in the all-day City of Lake Butler planning meeting Monday, April 5, 2021) served as the basis of his presentation. The investment in our youth’s moral, ethical, and physical self-defense classes begins April 19, 2021. Family rates and discounts for First Responders, state employees and US Military Veterans are available (call (386) 406-2571 for more information).
Congratulations to Deborah Elixson as our newest Lake Butler Rotarian! Shane provided Deborah with her own Lake Butler Rotary Badge. Also, congratulations go to our City for earning the prestigious US City Budget Award for the second year in a row!
