After an enjoyable meal shared by 15 Lake Butler Rotarians, along with several guests. Our prayer for the food was given by Ted Barber, the Pledge was led by Dale Walker, and David Beatty led the club in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday for Shane Collins a day early.
The trivia question this week was “On this day in 1978, The Double Eagle II completes the first transatlantic balloon flight when it lands in a barley field near Paris, 137 hours after lifting off. What state did it take off from?” The correct answer, given by Nancy Griffis, was Maine.
In substitution for our scheduled program, Superintendent Mike Ripplinger gave a brief update after the first week of school. Outside of some bus route issues the first week, which have already been fixed, and kids and teachers are getting back into the swing of things.
Next Tuesday at 8:00, at Sapphire Solutions, Rotary will be working on repairing crosses for Veterans Day. If you would like to order a cross, the deadline to get one before Veterans Day is October 1.
