On Friday morning, May 17, 2019, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 107 into law. Starting on July 1, 2019 it will now be a primary offense if you are caught texting and driving in Florida.
While there were laws on the books, texting and driving had been considered a secondary offense. It meant officers could not pull over drivers in the state of Florida if texting and driving was their only offense. Now, law enforcement officers will be able to pull you over just for texting and driving.
