Lake Butler Rotary Club Review, June 25, 2019

The June 25, 2019 Installation of 2019-2020 Lake Butler Rotary Club #4372 Officers to include Brad Whitehead, Club President, Shane Collins, President-Elect, Garrett Milton, Secretary-Treasurer, and Carlton Faulk, Sergeant at Arms was accomplished by Ray Snook, Assistant Area Governor. Brad told the Club that the Lake Butler Rotary Club was very important to him as a third generation Lake Butler Rotary Club President. Sheriff John Whitehead, Brad’s grandfather was a Charter Member and past president of the Lake Butler Rotary Club.

Out going President, Art Peterson, thanked all who help the Club get back on its feet from October 2018 to June 2019. He especially thanked Tommy Spires, Shane Collins, and Jenny Reed for their work in getting the financial situation corrected. He pointed out the success of our annual Spring Hawaiian Luau; our club’s contribution to Farm Share; our sponsored Lake Butler Interact Club’s successes under the guidance of Staff Advisor and Rotarian Nancy Griffis; our work to get a Global Project in Nicaragua approved by Rotary International; the three college scholarships to help graduating Interact Club Members; the publications by Ted Barber, David Stegall and Paul Lewis along with several others notifying the public of our Club activities and then Art passed our Certificates of Appreciation.

No one could answer Shane Collin’s “Do You Know?” question about the dangers of peanut butter. He asked, “Peanuts are also used to develop what dangerous compound?” Shane provided the answer- “Dynamite”.

Upcoming events include: The July 2 Meeting which will be our last chance to coordinate the 4th of July Activities. For those that have not seen it, David Stegall has created and is managing a social media event page for the . This has been a helpful advertising tool for the past several years he has done this. The July 9 Meeting which includes a wrap up by President Brad of the 4th of July Celebration. The July 16 Meeting has Keith Mobley as the Program Chairman. The July 23 Meeting has Joseph Edwards as the Program Chairman. The July 30th has Mitchell Bishop as the Program Chair. Ted Barber has the August 6 Meeting which should include our welcome to the new teachers, and August 13 has Dave Mecusker with August 20 having Phillip Pritchett as the Program Chairman.
