Union County Superintendent of Schools, Carlton Faulk, Announces He Will Not Run For Re-Election

Carlton Faulk, Superintendent of Union County Schools

Union County Superintendent of Schools, Carlton Faulk, released this letter Wednesday, April 15, 2020. He has announced that he will not be seeking re-election and plans to spend more time with his wife, Nadine, and family. We wish the best to Mr. Faulk in his retirement.

Dear Parents, Students, Faculty, and Staff,

It has been an honor to serve you as Superintendent of Schools for the past twenty years. My ties to our school system are deep. Not only did two of my three girls and son attend Lake Butler Schools, two of the girls work at LBES, and four out of my five grandchildren attend this great school system. Most of you know that my wife, Nadine, had to retire early after 35 years of teaching. After 41 years serving in education, it is time that I stay home with her.

I appreciate our directors, administrators, teachers, faculty and staff for their hard work and pride in teaching our students. They work tirelessly and long hours to provide the best education. Teachers work before, after, and during school preparing lesson plans, focus calendars, and grading papers to ensure students are receiving lessons that will prepare them to be successful in the classroom and in the real world.
All staff members play an important role in preparing our students to graduate. Thanks to our custodians, maintenance dept, bus drivers, paraprofessionals, food service, resource officers, the Sheriff’s department, and the office staff for making our school successful. Our coaches, advisors, sponsors, and mentors spend numerous hours helping our students.

Students, you are the best! I would like to personally tell you that I am sorry for the last couple of months that you missed events because of Covid-19. During your years in school, you have helped Union County earn the recognition of receiving A/B district for years. Over the years, I have received compliments on how the students of Union County are well mannered and respectful while attending or participating in events, which gives me much pride.

I have been fortunate to have so many people help me during my years as a coach, teacher, dean, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. Union County is blessed with support from our parents, business partners, churches, and the community. I have said this before that Union County is the best place to raise a family, work, and go to school. It has been a privilege and honor to serve as your Superintendent of Schools.

Sincerely,

Carlton Faulk
Superintendent of Schools
