President Shane Collins called the Lake Butler Rotary Club Meeting to order at 12:30 PMfollowing another great luncheon meal and fellowship.
Brad Whitehead provided a Union County Covid-19 update. He told the Rotarians that our county has had 92 corona virus cases with 41 involving inmates mainly from Union Correctional Institute. Eight of the inmates have been hospitalized and 2 inmates died. Shane thanked Brad for the update and for serving as the Lake Butler Rotary Club President for 2019-2020.
Our “Did You Know?” question asked which two US Presidents signed the Declaration of Independence and died on the same day, July 4, 1826-the 50th anniversary of the signing. The correct answer written on Ted Barber’s program was Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.
Tommy Spires as the Program Chairman introduced Betsy Whitehead telling us that Betsy has served the Union County School Food Service Department for 44 years. Ms. Whitehead told us her department manages a 1.3-million-dollar budget serving a student enrollment of 2,300. The Union County School Food Service Department provides all students with highly nutritious quality food in a clean, cheerful and caring environment. Betsy’s goal is to continue leading her department in achieving the highest standards and passing the responsibilities to her predecessor in June of 2021 when she plans to retire.
